Not every forgotten machine is destined to disappear. While time patiently transforms what has been left behind, there are places where that story briefly changes direction. Hidden among the forests of the Sunshine Coast hinterland is one such place. Here, abandoned Volkswagens exist between two futures—some quietly returning to the landscape, others finding their way back to the road through the hands of those who understand them best.

Relics is not simply about decay, but about the changing nature of all things. The Flocke family's workshop reminds us that impermanence does not belong only to endings. Restoration is simply another expression of change. Some vehicles continue their journey through careful craftsmanship, others through rust, weather and the slow work of the earth. Neither path is more natural than the other. Each reflects the same quiet truth: nothing remains fixed, and every machine is always becoming something else.
